Category Archives for "Self-Care Tips for Women With ADHD"

I’ve weighed over 300 pounds. I’ve lost 65 pounds. I’ve gained 30 back. Once again, it’s been a tumultuous journey to say the least.

My journey with weight loss, beauty, and self-care has been an interesting one to say the least. My guess is that my ADHD like symptoms don’t help me at all when it comes to being consistent with things like weight loss journaling, meal planning. meal prepping, tracking my weight loss, and shoot, even just using a face mask consistently.

The struggle is ridiculous. However, despite my ups and downs, I do have one or two things to share with ya’ll that I think will help you too, on your weight loss journey (😉)

3 Lazy Girl Ways To Prevent Hair Breakage (What I Do While I Sleep)

3 Lazy Girl Way to Prevent Hair Breakage (What I Do While I Sleep) in black and purple letters on white background

If you feel like your hair is always breaking…

no matter what products you use…

no matter how careful you try to be…

I need you to consider something:

👉 Your hair might be getting damaged… while you sleep.

And the crazy part?

This is actually one of the easiest things to fix.

No complicated routine.
No 10-step system.

Just a few simple changes that protect your hair overnight.

Why Your Hair Keeps Breaking (Even When You’re Trying)

Most of us think hair breakage comes from:

  • not using the right products
  • not deep conditioning enough
  • not doing enough to our hair

But a lot of breakage actually comes from:

  • friction (your hair rubbing against surfaces)
  • dryness
  • lack of protection at night

So you can be doing everything “right” during the day…

…and still undo all your progress at night.

The Easiest Way to Prevent Hair Breakage

Here it is:

👉 Protect your hair while you sleep

That’s it.

This is the most low effort, ADHD-friendly, lazy girl approved way to reduce breakage.

Because you’re not adding more to your routine…

you’re just protecting what you already did.

1. Satin Pillowcase (Your Backup Plan That Does a LOT)

Let me say this first:

If you do NOTHING else…

👉 get a satin pillowcase

Because cotton pillowcases?

They do two things:

  1. They suck the moisture out of your hair
(so all that moisturizing you did? gone)
  2. They create friction
    (which leads to breakage)

So your pillow is basically benefiting more than your hair 😭

A satin pillowcase helps:

  • reduce friction
  • keep moisture in your hair
  • protect your ends

And most importantly…

👉 it still works even if your bonnet comes off

(which… we’ll talk about next 😂)

2. Satin Bonnet or Scarf (Your First Line of Defense)

Now ideally, your hair is covered.

That’s where your satin bonnet or scarf comes in.

It helps:

  • keep your hair protected
  • reduce friction
  • preserve moisture

BUT…

Let’s be honest.

If you’re anything like me…

you go to sleep with your bonnet on…

…and wake up with it:

  • on the pillow
  • on the floor
  • somewhere behind the bed

Meanwhile your hair has been unprotected all night 😅

That’s why I say:

👉 bonnet = first line of defense
👉 pillowcase = backup plan

You really want both.

3. Bond Repair Leave-In Treatments (Use These Strategically)

Now this part is important.

These are not “every night” products…

but they are powerful for preventing breakage over time.

Bond repair treatments help:

  • strengthen your hair
  • reduce breakage
  • repair damage

Some good ones to try:

  • Dove Serum Bond Strength Leave-In
  • Marc Anthony Bond Repair Leave-In Conditioner
  • K-18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask
  • Redken Acidic Bonding Leave-In Conditioner

Use these:

  • after washing your hair
  • during styling
  • when your hair feels weak or damaged

They help your hair become stronger…

so it breaks less in the first place.

A Quick Note About Heat Styling (And an Alternative)

If you use heat often, that can also lead to breakage.

One alternative you can try is:
👉 roller sets

They help:

  • stretch your hair
  • reduce heat damage
  • keep moisture in your hair

BUT…

Let me be real with you:

That is not lazy girl friendly 😂

So if you’re overwhelmed?

Focus on the nighttime protection first.

The Simple Routine (For Overwhelmed Women)

If you want to keep this EASY, do this:

  • Moisturize your hair (water-based product)
  • Apply a bond repair leave-in (when needed)
  • Put on your satin bonnet
  • Sleep on a satin pillowcase

That’s it.

No overthinking.
No complicated routine.

The Glow-Up Lesson I Had to Learn

This is something I’ve had to relearn more than once…

Because of ADHD and shiny object syndrome.

I used to think:
“I need better products”

But really?

👉 I needed better habits

Protecting your hair at night is one of those habits that:

  • takes almost no effort
  • but makes a huge difference over time

And if I don’t write things like this down…

I will forget and start over (again 😅)

That’s why I track what actually works in my glow-up system so I don’t keep repeating the same mistakes.

Final Thoughts: Make It Easy on Yourself

If you’re trying to reduce breakage, you don’t need to do the most.

Start here:

👉 protect your hair at night
👉 keep it moisturized
👉 strengthen it when needed

That alone can make a big difference in:

  • reducing breakage
  • retaining length
  • keeping your hair healthier overall

Now tell me this:Do you wake up with your bonnet still on your head…
or somewhere across the room like mine?
