Let me say something that I didn’t fully understand until recently:
👉 The reason I struggle so much with doing my hair…
is not because I don’t know what to do.
It’s because of executive dysfunction.
I know the steps.
I’ve done it before.
I can do it.
But starting?
Finishing?
Doing all the steps without getting overwhelmed or giving up halfway through?
That’s the hard part.
So if you’ve ever:
This is for you.
I’m going to walk you through how to straighten your natural hair step-by-step in a way that actually feels doable.
No pressure. No perfection. Just progress.

Before you even touch your hair, do this:
👉 The goal is not speed. The goal is finishing.
Because rushing = frustration = quitting halfway.
And we’re not doing that today.
Start with a shampoo that helps reduce frizz and smooth your hair.
This helps your hair:
👉 You’re setting the foundation here.
Don’t rush this part.
A good conditioner:
👉 If your hair feels better here, everything after this is easier.
I know this is not your favorite step.
But it helps:
👉 Ease into it. Don’t shock your system 😂
This is where things can go wrong.
You do NOT want to:
👉 Keep it light.
You want smoothness… not puffiness.
This step makes a HUGE difference.
A good blow dry:
👉 Take your time here. This is where a lot of the magic happens.
Non-negotiable.
Use something like:
This helps:
This is where technique matters.
👉 Use small sections
👉 Comb or brush through first (chase method)
👉 Then follow with the flat iron
Also:
👉 Try to get close to the roots (without burning yourself)
This is what gives you:
Let me say this clearly:
👉 You are allowed to pause.
If you:
Take a break.
Sit down. Scroll. Eat something. Come back later.
Because rushing through the second half of your head?
👉 That’s how you end up with one side cute and the other side… not 😅
Once you’re done, you can use a small amount of product to:
👉 Keyword: SMALL amount
Too much = weighed down hair

This is how you keep your results.
At night:
👉 This prevents:
This is the part nobody talks about.
You might:
That doesn’t mean you failed.
👉 It just means your brain is overwhelmed.
Take a break.
Come back.
Finish later.
This is not a race.
If this feels like too much, focus on:
That alone will get you decent results.
For the longest time, I thought:
👉 “I’m just lazy when it comes to my hair”
But that wasn’t it.
It was executive dysfunction.
And once I understood that, I stopped:
Now I just focus on:
👉 doing what I can… and finishing when I can
And I also track what works so I don’t keep starting over every time.
If you want something simple to track your routines, this is what I use:

If doing your hair feels overwhelming…
you’re not broken.
You don’t lack discipline.
👉 Your brain just needs things to be simpler.
So take it step by step.
Pause when you need to.
And finish when you can.
Now tell me this:
Do you usually finish doing your hair in one sitting…or are you a “come back to it later” girl like me? 😅
If you’ve ever looked at the ingredients on your hair products and thought,
“Why is aloe vera in everything?”
Same.
Years ago, I kept seeing aloe vera juice and gel in natural hair products, but I didn’t really understand why. It just seemed like one of those “healthy ingredients” that everybody used but nobody explained.
So I did what we all do…
I went to Google.
And what I found had me ready to run to the store immediately.
Aloe vera was supposed to:
I was sold.
But then… I tried it… and didn’t love it.
So I stopped using it.
And completely forgot about it.
If you feel like your hair is always breaking…
no matter what products you use…
no matter how careful you try to be…
I need you to consider something:
👉 Your hair might be getting damaged… while you sleep.
And the crazy part?
This is actually one of the easiest things to fix.
No complicated routine.
No 10-step system.
Just a few simple changes that protect your hair overnight.

Most of us think hair breakage comes from:
But a lot of breakage actually comes from:
So you can be doing everything “right” during the day…
…and still undo all your progress at night.
Here it is:
👉 Protect your hair while you sleep
That’s it.
This is the most low effort, ADHD-friendly, lazy girl approved way to reduce breakage.
Because you’re not adding more to your routine…
you’re just protecting what you already did.
Let me say this first:
If you do NOTHING else…
👉 get a satin pillowcase
Because cotton pillowcases?
They do two things:
So your pillow is basically benefiting more than your hair 😭
A satin pillowcase helps:
And most importantly…
👉 it still works even if your bonnet comes off
(which… we’ll talk about next 😂)
Now ideally, your hair is covered.
That’s where your satin bonnet or scarf comes in.
It helps:
BUT…
Let’s be honest.
If you’re anything like me…
you go to sleep with your bonnet on…
…and wake up with it:
Meanwhile your hair has been unprotected all night 😅
That’s why I say:
👉 bonnet = first line of defense
👉 pillowcase = backup plan
You really want both.
Now this part is important.
These are not “every night” products…
but they are powerful for preventing breakage over time.
Bond repair treatments help:
Some good ones to try:
👉 (Perfect spots for your Amazon affiliate links)
Use these:
They help your hair become stronger…
so it breaks less in the first place.

If you use heat often, that can also lead to breakage.
One alternative you can try is:
👉 roller sets
They help:
BUT…
Let me be real with you:
That is not lazy girl friendly 😂
So if you’re overwhelmed?
Focus on the nighttime protection first.
If you want to keep this EASY, do this:
That’s it.
No overthinking.
No complicated routine.
This is something I’ve had to relearn more than once…
Because of ADHD and shiny object syndrome.
I used to think:
“I need better products”
But really?
👉 I needed better habits
Protecting your hair at night is one of those habits that:
And if I don’t write things like this down…
I will forget and start over (again 😅)
That’s why I track what actually works in my glow-up system so I don’t keep repeating the same mistakes.
If you want something simple to track your routines and progress, this is what I use:
https://store.healthyasyoucan.com/b/digital-trello-fitness-planner
If you’re trying to reduce breakage, you don’t need to do the most.
Start here:
👉 protect your hair at night
👉 keep it moisturized
👉 strengthen it when needed
That alone can make a big difference in:
Now tell me this:Do you wake up with your bonnet still on your head…
or somewhere across the room like mine?
Hair Breakage After Flat Ironing: Why You’re So Frustrated (And How to Fix It)
Before you buy another flat iron…
Before you fall for another “ionic, nano, titanium, infrared” situation…
Let me tell you something I had to learn the hard way:
👉 Not all flat irons are created equal.
And some of them?
Are quietly damaging your hair every single time you use them.
Pin this picture to read this post later!

Most of us choose a flat iron based on:
But almost nobody is asking:
👉 What are the plates actually made of?
And that one detail?
Can be the difference between:
Let’s talk about it.
Some flat irons are made with metal plates (usually aluminum), sometimes coated to look like something else (like “gold”).
And I’m just going to say it plainly:
👉 These are some of the most damaging flat irons you can use.
Why?
And snagging = breakage.
Every time.
Now listen…
I understand wanting to save money.
But this is where a lot of people get tripped up.
Some flat irons will say:
👉 “ceramic”
…but really?
They are:
👉 metal plates with a thin ceramic coating
Which means:
So even though it sounds like a good flat iron…
it’s not doing your hair any favors.
You don’t need to get overwhelmed with all the technical terms.
Just focus on this:
👉 Look for flat irons with:
That’s it.
You don’t need to understand every buzzword on the box.
Here’s how it usually happens:
And over time?
👉 your ends start breaking
👉 your hair feels rough
👉 your length doesn’t seem to grow
So you think:
“My hair just doesn’t grow”
But really?
👉 it’s breaking at the same rate it’s growing
Pin this picture to read this post later!

If you’re trying to keep things simple (and not do the most), follow this:
That alone can cut down on a lot of unnecessary breakage.
If you’re trying to reduce heat altogether, you can try:
👉 roller sets
They help:
BUT…
Let me be honest:
👉 that is not lazy girl friendly 😂
So if you’re overwhelmed, just focus on using better tools and less heat.
Nobody really explained this to me when I first started doing my hair.
I was just:
And that’s how you end up:
👉 wasting money
👉 damaging your hair
👉 wondering why nothing is working
This is also where ADHD and shiny object syndrome can sneak in.
Because it’s easy to:
That’s why I’ve had to start tracking what works (and what doesn’t), so I don’t keep repeating the same mistakes.
If you want a simple way to keep track of your routines and products, this is what I use:
https://store.healthyasyoucan.com/b/digital-trello-fitness-planner
If you’re trying to reduce breakage and retain length, don’t overlook this:
👉 the tools you use matter
You don’t need:
You just need one that:
Now tell me this:
Have you ever used a flat iron that left your hair feeling worse instead of better?
Because I know I’m not the only one 😅
Let me tell you something that used to frustrate me SO much…
I would spend all this time straightening my hair.
I’m talking about:
👉 sectioning it
👉 carefully flat ironing
👉 trying to get it nice and sleek
And then…
Not even an hour later?
Puff. Frizz. Reversion.
Like my hair said, “Yeah… we’re not doing this today.” 😒
And I used to think:
But no.
👉 I was literally ruining my own results.

Are you looking to build an anti-aging skin care routine but aren’t sure you can afford it?
If so, I totally understand. I mean, ladies, have you seen the prices at Ulta and Sephora lately?
It’s insane how much beauty products cost now, and even drugstore products are crazy expensive.
What are you supposed to do if you want beautiful skin, but don’t have a lot of money to spend on skin care?
And anti-aging skin care ingredients are extra expensive. Fortunately, that is where Dollar Tree comes in!
I’m not sure you know this, but Dollar Tree skin care and beauty products are all the rage right now.
I was walking through Dollar Tree and noticed just how fire their skin care options had become.
So while I was there, I created a quick little anti-aging skincare regimen that almost anyone could afford!
Dollar Tree has amazing skin care products for an amazing price.
Today, I’m going to share with you how to build an anti-aging skin care routine using only Dollar Tree products.
And these aren’t skin care products with sketch ingredients. Believe it or not these actually have anti-aging ingredient that are recommended by dermatologists.
I’ll tell you which products I recommend and I will also share what ingredients to look for in the products in case you can’t find the ones I recommend here. So without further I do well let’s get started.
The first one will cover some important details about collagen.
Ok y’all so I was in Dollar Tree, as I tend to be, and while I was there I got this idea. I said to myself, Dollar Tree really has everything you need to create pretty amazing skincare routines.
And they aren’t just generic skin care regimens either. In just a few minutes, I put together different skincare routines for you based on what issues your skin may be having.
In 3 different posts I’ll talk about the anti-aging, discoloration, and moisturizing routines I created. Today of course, I’ll share with you the moisturizing skin care routine.
And there’s one product in particular that I think you need to stock up on because it makes my skin so soft and beautiful, I can’t even believe it!
Plus, what I love about Dollar Tree skin care products is that because they are so inexpensive (but still good quality), I’m able to try out a lot of different products.
That’s great for my ADHD because I get bored using the same products all the time and love trying new ones!

Imagine sliding into a warm delicious-smelling bubble bath after a long day at work. Or curling up on the couch with your favorite mystery as you try to figure out whodunit.
But let’s be real, when you’re a busy woman working full time you don’t feel like you have time for self-care of any kind.
And I feel like the older I get the more I feel guilty for wanting to do anything I consider to be fun or not productive.
Being over 35 is a trip ain’t it? But the thing is, you shouldn’t feel guilty for “indulging “ in self-care or even feel like you don’t have time.
It can be especially hard to take care of yourself if you are struggling with depression or anxiety (or ADHD) like I have had in the past. The guilt is extra real then. Continue reading
How To Journal Lists to Help You Glow Up and Be Beautiful Inside and Out
If you’re anything like me then you’re on a glow up journey too. I love personal development and trying to grow as a woman with each passing year.
However, for the rest of this year, I plan to kick it up a notch.
With the help of my glow-up and self-care journal (more on that later), I’ve been taking notes and documenting my inner and outer glow-up journey instead of just winging it like I normally do.
As you journey through life, you will realize that embracing your inner and outer beauty is key to glowing up.
Glowing up is not just about making changes to your outward appearance (although that’s a really fun and exciting part of the journey).
It is also about becoming a better version of yourself on the inside. And journaling provides the perfect platform to achieve holistic growth. Continue reading

I understand the need to embrace your tiger stripes, love marks, growth marks, or whatever else people want to call stretch marks.
I have grown to be more okay with my own but Imma keep it real with you…
I’d be more than okay if they were gone.
Like far more than okay. I’d be overjoyed even.

I mean yes I can be content with them while they are here but that doesn’t mean that I’m going to stop looking for ☑️products like this amazing stretch mark cream to get rid of them in the meantime.
