Prayer for productivity and 5 Helpful Tools To Fight Stress & Overwhelm!
Today we are going to say a prayer for productivity and focus!
Why?
Because, for me, it feels like every day whizzes by faster than the day before it. And our to-do lists get longer and longer no matter how many items we check off of them.
So I need to ask God for help in focusing on what’s important in life and praying for godly productivity is a perfect way to start!
As Christian women, we want to be productive with the time God has given us and focus on doing the things He would have us do.
We know how precious time is and it can be frustrating when we don’t to use it as wisely as we know we should.
I’ve always felt like time was getting away from me.
Like I never had enough time. Like I was always running behind and always late.
But lately, I’ve been really getting into learning about productivity, time management, and goal setting.
It’s really helped me look at time in a different way and I’ve made some changes that have really made a difference in my life.
I really hope that my tips will help.
Since learning more about productivity, I’ve been on time (more often than not), I have more time to work on my blogs and pursue my goals, and I feel like my time with my family and friends is more enjoyable because I’m learning to live in the moment.
If you’re feeling like your days are passing you by and your to-do list is stagnant or insignificant then please keep reading!
If you’re ready to have some amazingly productive days with less stress and overwhelm then you need these five tools or resources.
Why Should We Pray For Productivity: Getting Started With Productivity As A Christian
So why should productivity be one of our prayer requests as Christians?
Back in the day when I used to procrastinate and ignore God’s calling on my life, productivity was a distant thought and definitely wasn’t a part of my prayer life.
I knew that time was limited and that God wanted us to live purposeful lives but I was too filled with anxiety to take action.
Now since submitting more to Jesus Christ & the Holy Spirit, having a productive day is super important to me.
And I’m guessing if you’re reading this being productive with the time God has given us is important to you too.
However, you may not know where to start with productivity if it hasn’t been a priority in your life before.
So today I’ll start with a prayer for productivity and then share with you 5 tools you can use to have a more productive day.
It’s important to remember though that our productivity needs to be a God-centered productivity meaning we aren’t seeking to be productive so that we can be more accomplished, more important, or more well-liked.
Instead, our productivity should be more focused on using our time to fulfill our role in God’s kingdom. We are already important and well-liked by our Father and we don’t have to work hard or be productive to earn that because basically, we can’t.
It’s just given to us because we have a good Father!
So now, let’s pray for focus and productivity.
Prayer For Productivity & Focus
Dear Lord,
I’ve felt so overwhelmed in my life with all of the things I feel like I need to do. And yet many times, my to-do list doesn’t have eternal significance. They aren’t the things You would have me do.
Instead, of being busy, please guide me in having a day of significance and meaning. Guide my mind, heart, hands, and feet to think, feel, and do what you want me to do. Give me direction and purpose. Help me fight against spiritual warfare and the spirit of laziness and sloth.
Help me to consider the Cross in all that I do. Give me the strength to do all that you would have me do. I pray for my work colleagues and that I will be a good ambassador of Christ to them.
I pray over any businesses that I run that I may run them with integrity. I pray over any financial struggles I may have and that no matter what my trust will be in You and not money.
Help me work like the ant in Proverbs 6:6-8. Help the desires of my heart be what you desire them to be. Let me meditate on your Word.
All these things I pray in Jesus’ name,
Amen.
5 Tools For Christian Women To Be More Focused & Productive In Their Lives
Now, of course, the Bible is a guide for life and it teaches us to be productive and redeem the time Ephesians 5:16 so it could technically be a productivity tool.
However, the Bible is more of a theoretical tool for productivity. I want to share some practical productivity tools you can use in everyday life! Use these tools to help make your life more organized and less stressed!
When you use these tools, you should be able to focus more on what matters and cross items off your to-do list that actually matter!
They should help your day go smoother. If for some reason they aren’t, either re-evaluate how you are using them or stop using them. Simple as that!
1) Daily Planners
Why do you need a daily planner? If you feel like you can’t manage your day and you go to bed every night feeling super frustrated by how stressed and overwhelmed you feel you need a planner.
If you end your day thinking, “Lord, what went wrong? Why does it seem like I didn’t get anything done again today?
Why do I feel like I’m spinning my wheels and never getting anything accomplished?
Why am I late all the time? Why did I miss that appointment?” you need a planner. You need a daily planner so that you can see your day laid out before you.
You need one centralized location where you can see “Okay, the kids get out of school at 2:30. Susie has soccer practice at 4:30, bible study is at 6:30.”
When you have your day scheduled in black and white, you gain clarity.
Now instead of the times for this rehearsal and this appointment and this practice all rumbling around in your head bumping into each other and getting all mixed up, you have all the times right there in your planner, lined up, in black and white where you can see it.
And depending on the kind of person you are, you can use a paper planner, an editable pdf planner, or a digital planner of some sort.
2) Trello
My entire life is in this one app called Trello. It’s to the point where, if for some reason the Trello company went under and they stopped supporting the app, I would slightly panic.
Why? Because my brain is on that app.
Everything that I use to have to remember and recall over and over is on that app.
I got so frustrated one time by all the things that I had to remember that I searched for an app that would help me not have to use my brain so much.
I tried a few apps and once I found Trello, my search was over (Asana is another that other people recommend but I personally wasn’t drawn to it).
If you find yourself forgetting stuff (which is basically my life in a nutshell), then this app will let you put all of your “memories” so to speak into nice organized boards and lists.
When you first open it, you might find it a little jarring but don’t worry. There are plenty of tutorials that you can find on how to use it.
3) Systems
Okay, so what do I mean by systems? Don’t let the word scare you. What I mean by system is this: There are certain things that you do over and over again.
You get the mail. You cook dinner, You make a budget. You make a grocery list.
You get the picture.
Well, if you feel like you are recreating the wheel every time you do these things then you need to create a system or a rather systematic way of doing this mundane task so that it just feels like something you can do blindfolded because it’s so routine.
Or put another way, the system is just the simple step-by-step process for getting this routine task done.
The system will help you get it done faster and more efficiently. Hopefully, that makes sense. You can write your system down in a bullet journal, a single piece of paper that you put on the fridge, or using the Trello app I just mentioned.
4) Checklists
Using checklists makes things so much easier. You just glance at a checklist and see whether or not a task is done and move on.
They are such a blessing. There are tons of free checklists that you can print from Pinterest so definitely search for free checklist printables for the tasks you need to be done more efficiently.
5) Goal Planner
Yes, you might have a daily planner and that’s great. However, sometimes there are things that we want to do that can’t get done in a day.
These are projects, parties to plan, books to write, blogs to run and manage, or anything else that can’t get done in one day and has multiple moving parts.
That’s where a goal planner comes in. I talk more about using goal planners and journals in this post about setting SMART goals.
You use these to see both an overview of the goal and all the small details and steps that need to happen in order to make that goal a reality.
6) Journals
Journals are another tool that you can use to fight stress and overwhelm.
There are so many types of journals but they should all help you fight stress in some form or another. You can use a bullet journal which is like a planner and journal all in one. You can create a goal-setting mindset journal.
You can create a brain dump journal that you use to write down every idea, dream, and goal you have so you don’t have to carry them around anymore.
Create a worry journal so you can declutter your mind from anxiety and focus on more productive and positive things. There are so many ways journals can help you and I highly recommend you start writing in one!
