How To Increase Your Energy Levels In The Morning Without Caffeine
You already know there’s a better way.
You just don’t know how to find that way.
How do you increase your energy in the morning without resorting to sugar-laden coffee?
Because this hitting the snooze on the alarm every morning, dragging out of bed, and reaching for coffee as soon as you can stumble your way into the kitchen is not the abundant life that Jesus was talking about in John 10:10.
Let’s face it.
Many of us are worn out.
Some of us have been this way for so long we think it’s normal.
Some of us are so unacquainted with energy, we wouldn’t recognize it if it walked up to us and introduced itself (Hi, I’m energy nice to meet you).
It would be awesome if energy would just walk up to us and inject itself into us but instead energy is more like:
So how do we keep energy from waving goodbye and leaving us so quickly (because if we are going to start pursuing the life that God’s wants us to live then having energy should be at the top of the list)?
I’ve discovered 5 ways to increase our energy levels naturally that have nothing to do with downing coffee all day (even though I love me some coffee).
They don’t even add any calories to our diet (well, one or two might but at least they are healthy calories).
However, before we just get to these 5 secrets to increasing your energy levels, let’s talk about the spiritual consequences of being chronically fatigued.
Oh yeah, and this post contains affiliate links to great products that will help you in your health journey. I will get a commission if you decide to buy from these links but I’m only recommending products that I feel confident about.
Spiritual Consequences of Being Tired All The Time
Before writing this article, I never considered just how much it would affect our walk with Christ if we were tired all the time.
I didn’t know there was a connection but really how could there not be.
How many times have I crawled into bed and suddenly remembered I hadn’t done my Bible study for the day?
So I’ll find my Bible (or sometimes, because let’s be real, I open the Bible app on my phone) with every intention to start and finish my devotional.
But when I wake up, turn on my phone, the Bible app is still open to the same section that it was on when I went to sleep.
Has this happened to you? You’re so tired that you’re sleep before you’ve finished the first paragraph.
And maybe if this only happened a few times then it might not be so bad. But if it becomes a habit then before you know it, you haven’t had fellowship with the Lord in ages.
Not only that but if part of the reason why we are so tired is because we are busy then it’s likely that we don’t get that devotional time with the Lord during the day either.
When we are not in daily fellowship with the Lord then it becomes difficult to hear His voice.
When we don’t hear His voice we start making decisions based on emotion and not based on scripture.
I speak from personal experience that when I don’t seek the Lord’s guidance, I do really dumb things…sometimes really costly things that can’t be undone (I’ll probably talk about that story in a financial post).
Hopefully, you can see the connection between being tired and our spiritual walk with Jesus.
Our tiredness can be used as an excuse to not fellowship with the Lord and before we know it we’ve wandered away from Him without even realizing it.
With that being said, let’s discuss 5 ways we can get our energy back so we can win at life!

5 Ways To Increase Your Energy Levels In The Morning Naturally
1) Drink More Vegetables
First off, green drinks are my life.
You can make a smoothie or juice with green vegetables.
However, my favorite way to drink my veggies is in a Nutriblast courtesy of my Nutribullet blender.
But what is the difference between a smoothie, Nutriblast and veggie juice?
Well when I picture a smoothie, I assume some sort of yogurt or dairy product is involved in the concoction which, of course, adds calories to the drink.
And a vegetable juice usually has all the pulp and fiber removed from the vegetables as they are being juiced.
But a nutriblast has all of the nutrients and fiber intact and I rarely use anything other than water as my liquid base.
The Nutribullet blender breaks the vegetables down into small particles which makes it easier for our bodies to digest and this is why you get so much energy from nutriblasts.
That energy from the broken down vegetables become available to our bodies in a matter of minutes.
And since my sleep is not very restful and I wake up pretty tired, my nutribalsts are a necessity because they power me through my day.
I don’t even need coffee every day like I used to because the nutriblasts are enough.
Action Step: Buy a NutriBullet (I have a blender and I tried to make green drinks with them but it’s not the same, trust me…)
2) Drink Apple Cider Vinegar
Drinking ACV as a way to get more energy surprised me.
I’m not sure why because apple cider vinegar or ACV can fix almost anything.
But it was still a bit shocking to discover during my research phase of this article that drinking 2 tablespoons (or three) a day could boost your energy levels (preferably before a meal).
But looking back I can recall that when I’ve had ACV in the past that I did have more energy.
If you’re wanting to drink ACV it’s important to know how to drink it.
You don’t just take a swig of ACV and keep it moving.
You should dilute it into a glass of water and drink it through a straw.
Lately, I’ve been lazy and drinking the ACV straight from the spoon I poured it into and chasing it down with water but I wouldn’t recommend that because it’s probably not good for your teeth.
Because ACV is so strong, you have to be pretty hardcore and/or crazy to do it this way.
So please do as I say and not as I do.
Oh and if you’re wondering how ACV works to give you energy, according to an article on Longevity Live, the acetic acid boosts glycogen repletion in skeletal muscles which means carbs are turned into energy.
However it works, I do just want to take a moment and say thank you ACV for all you do.
Action Step: Buy a bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother in it.
No other kind will do.
And that was an affiliate link but let’s be real…you can get ACV at Kroger 🙂
3) Just Do Less
This one here is radical I know but we could just say no to some things every now and then.
I know it’s hard but we don’t have to be as busy as we are.
If we are tired we could just do less.
It sounds simple and it’s definitely easier said than done but we do get it built up in our minds that there are all of these things we have to do.
Let’s be very frank here.
There are very few things in life that we absolutely have to do, we’ve just been conditioned to think we have to do so much… that we must be busy.
Sometimes we need to be still and just rest, spend time with the Lord (Psalm 46:10), spend time with a loved one, spend time by ourselves and be rejuvenated.
Not only that but it’s important to ask ourselves are we being productive or are we just busy?
Are we producing something of value for others or ourselves?
I have to constantly check myself on whether or not I’m being a good steward of my time and producing something of value.
If we are tired then maybe we should look at how we spend our time and if those things are truly worth our energy.
Action Step: Look at your schedule and really think about the importance of those activities. Do they glorify God? Do they make you healthier? Do they serve other people?
4) Eat Coconut Oil
ACV and coconut oil must be in a battle to see who wins as the most beneficial product in our pantries.
Coconut oil seems to pop up on every “healthy” list I look up these days.
Those medium-chain triglycerides in the coconut oil hook us up with all kinds of healthy energy (as opposed to the jittery my hands are shaking kind of energy that my beloved coffee can sometimes give you).
But you have to buy the extra virgin coconut oil.
Sorry if you thought you could just get that $3.99 tub of Louanna and be straight because it’s probably not going to do much for you.
I’ve even been buying the organic naturally refined coconut oil and I’m afraid it too may not be as beneficial as the extra virgin extremely strong coconuty tasting coconut oil that I so don’t like.
Looks like if you want the energizing benefits of coconut oil you must get the real deal Holyfield.
Sad Face 🙁
Action Step: Order extra virgin coconut oil.
I can tolerate the Jarrows brand…sort of (the coconut taste is not that bad).
5) Take Iron Supplements
What kind of girl would be anemic and not take iron supplements?
This girl. I know it makes no sense but I’m about to remedy that.
See if you’re anemic, your red blood cell count is low and that makes it difficult for oxygen to make its way through your body.
Anytime oxygen is not getting to your organs like it should, you’re going to get tired faster than you should.
Naturally, you should take iron supplements to bring your red blood cell count up to normal (if low iron levels are the cause of your anemia… there are other causes but we won’t go into that now).
And yes you can eat more iron-rich foods and it would be a great idea to do so.
However, iron supplements are a faster and more convenient way to boost your energy and blood cell count.
And hey…Doing both would be even better.
If you do choose to go the supplement route, then go for a whole food supplement like Garden of Life Vitamin Code Raw Iron which is the kind I’m going to buy for my next Amazon order.
Action Step: Order a bottle of Garden of Life Raw Iron from Amazon.
How Are You Going To Get More Energy In The Morning?
As good as knowing all of these tips are, they won’t do us any good if we don’t put them into practice.

You don’t have to go crazy and try to implement all five tips tomorrow.
Look at the list right now and choose one or two to start implementing this week.
