– How To Make Time For Prayer Every Day
1) Set Reminders
One easy strategy is to set up triggers, or automatic reminders, to pray consistently.
Just get your phone out and choose a time of day that typically is less busy than other times and plan to pray then.
Once this routine has been established, it is simple to maintain and even add other prayer reminders throughout the day. As a result, you will make prayer a daily habit by planning for it.
2) Make it a daily habit
Another idea is to prioritize your prayer life by making it a daily habit. This means you make time for prayer just as you would any other meeting.
If you were supposed to have a daily meeting at work would you just not show up?
Probably not. Pretty sure you would be there right?
So why can’t we schedule a daily meeting with God just as we might a friend or family member?
We could and I know we would benefit greatly from doing it.
3) Start off small
Does the hymn “Sweet Hour Of Prayer” make you feel guilty because you don’t know how you can fit in an hour of prayer?
Don’t worry! Try incorporating 5 minutes of daily prayer into your morning and see how your day turns out! Once you’ve established that habit, add additional 5-minute prayers throughout the day!
You’ll be surprised how much more focused and calm everything feels once you’ve spent so much time with the Lord.
4) Pray Wherever You Are
Prayer doesn’t have to mean sitting down cross-legged in an empty room or on your knees.
Add some prayer time on the way home from work, pray in the grocery store. Pray wherever you are.
Don’t make it complicated.
I know I tend to overthink things but prayer doesn’t always have to be you alone in a room with your hands folded.
5) Make Prayer A Part Of Your Morning Ritual
Whether you set a reminder with your morning alarm clock like I mentioned earlier or recall Scripture over your morning cup of coffee, you can easily spend more time with the Lord.
Start the day with a prayer for the health and safety of your friends and family. You can also make it a morning habit to pray over your marriage and children.
Prayer is a simple way to remember to thank God for what He has blessed you with.
It doesn’t take long and is simple to incorporate into your life.
Try to get up 5 minutes earlier in the morning and spend some time with God before you go to work or school.
You may have ample time in the evening, but mornings are often open.
6) Prayer When You Hear A Siren
This is something I’ve done often. Whenever you hear a siren, it means that someone is hurt and needs help.
Sirens blaring means that first responders are on their way to a call.
So when you hear a siren, take a moment to send up a prayer not only for the person who needs the ambulance but also for the safety of the workers attending to the people in need.
7) Pray During Meal Times
Of course, this is a no-brainer but breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all wonderful opportunities thank God not only for the meal in front of you but for all of your blessings.
But I know sometimes for me, I have some other things on my heart right before I eat that I need to talk to the Father about.
There are no rules that say your meal time prayer can only be about that meal you are eating. It can be about whatever is on your mind at that moment!
8) Pray When The Spirit Moves You
Your intuition might be prompting you to reach out to someone, to let them know you’re thinking of them. The Spirit might be urging you to focus on this specific person and pray for them.
Instead of just reaching out to them, reach out and pray for them as well. This way you can show how much you really love and support this person.
9) Pray When Doing Physical Activities
Praying doesn’t only have to happen when you are in your war closet.
There are certain activities that are the perfect time to pray and reflect, like doing laundry, working in your garden, or washing the dishes (my least favorite chore).
Liven up these boring and mundane chores by talking to your Creator while you do them. It certainly will give vacuuming more purpose if you pray while you’re doing it!
10) Use A Prayer Journal
We already talked about using your phone’s reminders or alarms as a reminder to pause and give thanks when they ding.
But there are more ways you can use technology in order to get closer to God. One way is by writing your prayers down in a printable or digital prayer journal.
Writing your prayers down in a journal is so beneficial and you can learn more about that here!
You can keep this super simple by using a note in a free app like Evernote.
You can also use the free app Trello to create a prayer journal. This is what I do and later I will show you where you can get a free Trello-based prayer journal so stay tuned!
You can use this free prayer planner as a journaling tool in which you write down your thoughts and prayers for the day.
Then you can update it as needed.
11) Pray Right Before Bed
There are some habits that I have found helpful to get ready for bed. Before I go to sleep, I read some verses or devotionals in my YouVersion Bible app about whatever’s on my heart that day.
Spending this time with God right before bed helps me ground myself and gives purpose to my thoughts as they fade away before sleep takes over completely.
Before bed, it is also very calming and meditative for the mind to pray.
– Conclusion: How Will You Pray Throughout The Day?
Alright, my loves…I hope this has given you some ideas on how you can incorporate prayer all throughout the day.
If you thought you didn’t have time to pray before I hope you understand now that you definitely do!
