– Why Even Have Sunday Habits

So why even create a Sunday ritual of sorts? Well for one thing if you don’t the upcoming week will be far more chaotic and haphazard.

No, you can’t plan for every eventuality that might occur. There will always be those surprise unwelcome events that just pop up out of nowhere.

However, imagine if you not only had to deal with those unexpected situations but you also didn’t plan for the things you didn’t know were coming?

It will be a hot mess.

Am I right? So why go through all of that when you can follow these tips and I’m going to share with you so that you can have a potentially calm(er) and productive week.

So what are these Sunday habits that I’m referring to? That’s what we’re going to discuss in the next section.

I’ll provide you with a step-by-step guide on what to do on Sunday so that your Monday will be amazing!

– 7 Simple Sunday Habits To Set You Up For A Calm & Relaxing Week

1) Plan & Journal On Sunday For The Upcoming Week

So the first thing you want to do is think about all of the things that are either going to happen over the next week or that you want to happen over the next week.

So what do I mean by this? I mean write down all of the meetings you have, the appointments for you, your kids, your mom, your dad, or whoever it is that you have to take care of it.

If you have any deadlines for work or business in your church…whatever it is be sure to write that down on your calendar if you haven’t already.

Or if you’re like me, set a reminder on your phone for everything that you have to do this week that requires you to be somewhere at a certain time and place.

Now turn your attention to any goals that you might have for the next week.

What do you want to accomplish? Do you want to finish that book you started? Maybe you own a business and you want to create a new product or write a new blog post?

Maybe you want to exercise 5 days this week. Figure out when you’ll do that and pencil it into your schedule.

Whatever your goals are for the week write those down and right when you plan to accomplish them.

Then move on to step two.

2) Pray Over Your Weekly Plans

OK, so now you have your plans in place now it’s time to pray over those plans.

Lift those goals, meetings, and appointments up to God and ask Him to bless them. Ask Him if there’s anything that He wants you to do.

If He reveals something to you you might have to change your schedule around to accommodate His commands.

If there’s a plan that He asks you to eliminate for whatever reason, then do that too.

3) Go Grocery Shopping & Meal Plan

This habit is life-changing. Everybody has to eat. We know this.

And eating healthy will give you the energy to power through your week.

However, I know for me when I don’t meal plan I just grab whatever I can find that is easy and quick, and guess what.? It’s usually not healthy.

In fact, it almost never is. So how do we change this unhealthy habit so that we won’t be crabby from all the preservative-filled foods that are oh so easy to prepare?

You have to meal plan. Now meal planning is not my forte. I want to be able to eat whatever I want, whenever I get hungry.

But trust me, this is a terrible idea.

Instead, take a few moments on the weekend, plan out a menu for the week and make a grocery list of the items that you need for each meal.

In fact, doing this on a Saturday might be even smarter because then you can make a grocery pickup order and pick it up after church on Sunday.

Then you can move on to step.

4) Meal Prep

Meal planning and meal prepping go hand in hand and you truly don’t want to skip this step.

You can do all the meal planning in the world but when you get home after work and you’re tired, all those plans go out the window.

Uber Eats to the rescue right?

Noooo, don’t do it.

Instead, what if the ingredients of those healthy meals you planned to make were already cooked?

Or at least washed, chopped, and portioned out? You’ll be far more likely to eat those healthy meals and less likely to swing past your favorite restaurant for take-out.

5) Lay Out Your Clothes

Another thing you can do to set yourself up for a calmer week is to lay out your clothes. I do this and it makes such a huge difference in my week.

Those mornings when I forgot to lay out my clothes either the night before or on Sunday, I wind up frantically searching my closet for something decent to wear.

Avoid the panic and hang up your outfits for the week in your closet or on the back of your bedroom door, like I do.

Bonus tip: lay out your kid’s clothes too. Or if they are old enough have them do it and let that be one of their chores.

6) Self-Care Maintenance

This Sunday habit is one I’m trying to incorporate into my routine but it’s been sporadic at best.

Nevertheless, it’s still a good practice and that is to do any weekly self-care or beauty maintenance that you feel you need.

That could include getting or giving yourself a manicure, shaping your eyebrows, or face masks.

There are other kinds of self-care too like financial self-care, spiritual self-care, and more. Set aside some time to do your weekly budget and journal.

Doing a brain dump at the beginning and end of the week is a great way to gain some mental clarity and reflect on the past week and look forward to the coming one.

7) Deep Clean Your House, Bags, Purse, and Fridge

Ok ok so I said deep clean which sounds scary I know.

At least I have your attention!

So when I say deep clean, I mean cleaning some things that you may not clean on a daily basis.

Clean out your fridge and who knows? You might discover that there’s leftover pizza that needs to be eaten in a day or two or it will get tossed.

Empty your purse and throw away trash, unneeded receipts, and all the stuff that has been thrown in there over the past few days.

My purse is a deep dark abyss of items that have no rhyme or reason and when I don’t clean it out, it feels like I’ve gained 10 pounds every time I carry it.

Look in your car for trash or items that need to be carried into the house but got left behind. You’ll be so glad you did.

– How to find the time to do your sunday tasks

I don’t know about you but you might be thinking “ dude, this is a lot of work”. I totally get that and yeah, same.

It is a lot. Don’t feel like you have to do all of this every Sunday.

Frankly, it’s not realistic for some people.

Instead, pick a few habits on this list that you see as the most beneficial.

Or if you want to be a powerhouse then just set aside an hour or two and speed through it.

I promise you’ll be so glad you did. And if you want, get your kids involved. Have them clean out the car with you.

Make it a game and see who can find the most trash and get it in the bag first. Just make it happen!
