Category Archives for "Mental Health For Overwhelmed Minds"

This has definitely been one of the biggest challenges of my life but in some ways one of my biggest successes (but only because of Christ because on my own, there’s no telling where I’d be).

I have overcome depression. Anxiety…it still creeps up its little ugly head but I’ve got some tools now to push Anxious Ally back down when I need to (or just ignore her altogether…whatever works).

I strongly suspect I have ADHD but since I don’t have an official diagnosis, I won’t claim it. I’ll just say the symptoms are very strong with this one.

Whether I’m neurodivergent or not, this brain that I’ve been blessed (oh how I want to put blessed in quotation marks but I won’t) with, has certainly challenged me far beyond what I would have preferred.

But God has been walking with me through it all and I hope to share some tips with you that will be helpful in your own mental health journey.

5 Small Habits That Slowly Ruined My Mental Health!

5 Sneaky Habits You Ignore That Are Destroying Your Mental Health! pink background white letters

It’s sad but true.

I’ve committed every single mental health mistake on this list at some point or another.

I have made so many detrimental mistakes when it comes to my mental health and I didn’t even realize what a toll these habits were taking on me.

Fortunately, the Lord has opened my eyes and I’ve been able to undo some of the damage these mental health mistakes have done. Although some, are still a work in progress!

My prayer for you is that this post can help you avoid making these same mistakes too or at least recognize that these habits may not be serving you or your emotional health.

7 Airplane Travel Essentials For A Perfect Stress-Free Flight)

Stepping inside an airport fills me with joy.

But I know not everyone is filled with joy at the thought of jumping on a plane. Some people suffer from flight anxiety (link) or just general anxiety from any kind of travel.

I totally get that. And to be honest, I can sort of relate. Continue reading

5-Minute Self-Care Ideas: Quick and Easy Ways to Boost Your Well-Being

Imagine sliding into a warm delicious-smelling bubble bath after a long day at work. Or curling up on the couch with your favorite mystery as you try to figure out whodunit.

But let’s be real, when you’re a busy woman working full time you don’t feel like you have time for self-care of any kind.

And I feel like the older I get the more I feel guilty for wanting to do anything I consider to be fun or not productive.

Being over 35 is a trip ain’t it? But the thing is, you shouldn’t feel guilty for “indulging “ in self-care or even feel like you don’t have time.

It can be especially hard to take care of yourself if you are struggling with depression or anxiety (or ADHD) like I have had in the past. The guilt is extra real then. Continue reading

How To Journal Lists to Help You Glow Up and Be Beautiful Inside and Out

If you’re anything like me then you’re on a glow up journey too. I love personal development and trying to grow as a woman with each passing year.

However, for the rest of this year, I plan to kick it up a notch.

With the help of my glow-up and self-care journal (more on that later), I’ve been taking notes and documenting my inner and outer glow-up journey instead of just winging it like I normally do.

As you journey through life, you will realize that embracing your inner and outer beauty is key to glowing up.

Glowing up is not just about making changes to your outward appearance (although that’s a really fun and exciting part of the journey).

Oh yes…my dear friend Anxiety. We meet again. You know, I’d like to say that I didn’t miss you but sometimes I just look for a reason to be anxious.

That’s the feeling of “I’ve been plagued by anxiety for so long that I just don’t feel right if I’m not spinning about something”. Maybe you can relate to grabbing onto anxiety and holding on for dear life.

But I know that having one paranoid and unfounded thought after another circling around in my head is not healthy. So I’ve got something for anxiety this time. If anxiety thinks he’s sticking around this time, he’s got another thing coming.

You see, journaling has been one of my secret weapons when it comes to fighting anxiety (there’s another weapon too that I will share with you later on).

And I believe that if you use the 22 powerful and unique anxiety journaling prompts that I’m going to share with you today, it will slowly become one of your weapons as well.

If you’ve ever uttered any of the following statements then you miiight wanna try using gratitude journaling prompts:

“Ugh, I don’t want to get up for work”

“I don’t feel like working out…I’m tired”

“Do I have to go to church” (or fill in the blank with the location of your choice)

“I don’t make enough money”

Oh yes, I’ve said some variation of all of these lovely complaints and I realized that I had to check myself and start thinking in a new way.

That’s where gratitude journaling prompts come in. The easiest thing in the world to do is complain and be negative. It couldn’t come more naturally to most people.

But it takes extra effort to be grateful and look for ways to have a more positive attitude.

I strongly believe, though, that using gratitude journaling prompts can be a powerful tool that will make positivity and thankfulness just a normal part of your routine…eventually.

No, Rome wasn’t built overnight nor will your new attitude. But give it time.

Start writing these prompts in the morning and you will find your mood getting better with each passing prompt!

The more you use these gratitude journal ideas I’m going to share with you, the faster your perspective in life will change!Continue reading
