25 Positive Prompts To Write In Your Journal When Everything’s Going Wrong!

Positive Prompts For A More Joy-Filled & Purposeful Life!
I can’t lie… sometimes I’m not trying to follow Philippians 4:8-9. It’s like no matter how hard I try, I can’t focus on whatever’s true, noble, right, pure, lovely, or admirable.
I’d rather focus instead on whatever’s negative, annoying, painful, ugly, unfair, or wrong. It’s such an easy pit to fall into and so seemingly hard to get out of.
Negativity takes just a second to arise whenever things go down rail. It is super easy for negativity to take hold in our lives even to the point where we feel suicidal!
We all know that hard times are going to happen in our lives. That’s why it’s important to have an idea of how to cope with these hard times before they even come.
What I advocate most for are 4 things: trusting in God, prayer and Bible study, getting therapy, and sorting my feelings out in my journal, which is what we will talk about today…specifically journaling using positive prompts.
Why?
Journaling has been one of the most remarkable ways to address my emotions, get rid of depression and anxiety, and so much more.
Let’s dive into that today, shall we?
What Are Positive Prompts For Journaling?
To start journaling, it’s helpful to have some questions and ideas that will help inspire you on what you should write.
That’s where prompts come in. Journaling or writing prompts are short questions or incomplete thoughts meant to spark some ideas on what you could write.
Prompts get your writing and emotional juices flowing so you can get your feelings down on paper.
And then to be more specific, positive prompts are writing questions or ideas that are meant to help you focus on the more positive aspects of life. I hope they will fill you with gratitude for the good positive things you have been given.
These types of prompts are designated to give you a positive outlook and increase your optimism in life.
Positive prompts are an inspirational way to help you fill your journal and mind with all of the emotions Philippians 4:8-9 talks about. Eventually, this will pave the way to a more positive outlook on your problems in life.
What are the benefits of using positive journal writing prompts in our lives?
There are many benefits to positive journaling, and I can’t really cover it all in a single post. So I’ll only focus on the most important ones that will be valuable to help you create a positive mindset.
Here are a few amazing benefits why you should use positive prompts for journaling:
- If your mind is scattered, addressing your thoughts and emotions can be daunting. Using journaling prompts can help to bring you mental clarity and keep your thoughts organized.
- Journaling is a great way to discover what is causing your feelings of negativity. If you don’t know why you feel so hopeless then you won’t know what changes you need to make in order to change those feelings. Journaling will help you explore these emotions and help you start making goals that will lead you toward living a more purposeful and happy life.
- Positive thinking prompts will gradually make you consistent with your journaling practices. Journaling is all about consistency. Be it two days a week or all the seven days. If you dedicate certain days to journaling it will eventually become a habit. Then you can begin to reap the benefits of journaling continually.
- It makes you accountable for your emotions. Often when things don’t go our way, we tend to blame others. The blame game leads to nowhere. If you want to get out of this cycle, start journaling regularly, and you can be accountable for your thoughts and emotions, which will force you to start examining your own actions.
- It makes you feel grateful about the things you already have in life instead of fretting over the negative even if that’s what you really want to do.
- It will make you feel more connected to God and help you uncover His will for your life. Journaling is especially powerful when you do it in prayer form.
- It makes you focus on the good gifts God has given you, which you can focus on when things in your life are going wrong…counting your blessing really does work!
- Positive journaling prompts will also help improve your physical health because the more you do it, the less stress you will feel. The less stress you have, the more your physical health improves (source).
- It gives you hope to keep going even when things are not going your way.
