– Things To Consider About Fear
So let’s talk a little bit about fear. As much as I hate fear, it can be insightful.
Fear can reveal to us what we care about and what’s most important to us.
Let’s just use a silly or fun example for once. I am not a baseball fan so I don’t really care if the Braves hit a home run, make it into the playoffs, or the championships.
However, I’m a huge football fan in general and a bigger Titans fan. So when they are playing in a big game, I have anxiety about it.
I know in the long run it doesn’t matter but the point is, because I care so much about Titans football, what happens to them matters to me.
So it causes “fear” of some sort. Hopefully, you see where I’m going with this.
You have fear about things that matter to you. So in that vein, fear can be a useful tool.
It can be a source of motivation or insight. Fear can also motivate people to overcome their challenges and tackle their fears head-on.
While you’re using these journaling prompts, think about the things that have happened in your life that may be causing your fear. This will help you find out the root cause of your fear.
However, fear becomes bad when it prevents you from living an abundant life.
When it stops you from pursuing dreams and goals. When it runs your life.
When it becomes the god of your life and you make decisions centered around it.
When you see yourself and your life through the prism of fear. This is when fear becomes toxic and life-ruining.
If you’re experiencing this kind of fear then fear journaling is a brilliant option for you!
Fear journaling is a good way to get to know your inner self and also to figure out what’s driving the scary thoughts in your head.
If you find that you are fearful of something, it might be because of a habit or behavior.
– How often do you feel this crippling fear?
Journaling is also a great way to see how often you feel scared and anxious
If you journal daily, you will have an easy way to see how chronic your fear and anxiety really are. If not, just date the entries in your fear or anxiety journal so you can see how much these fears pop up.
It can also help you understand what triggers these feelings and how they might be affected by your daily routine.
If, for example, you have an anxiety attack every time you finish your workday and are trying to get home, it could be due to the stress and pressure that comes with finishing a project at work.
On the other hand, if these feelings come up when you’re out in public, it may be due to social anxiety.
Providing yourself with examples of times that these feelings come up will help show where they come from and how they impact your life on a daily basis.
