What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When you leave a comment, first of all we are thrilled that you did! We appreciate it. Please be aware that when you comment on HAYC, we will know your name and your email address and your website url, if you choose to leave it. But I don’t do anything with it without your permission, like sell it or anything. That would be rude.
Also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection is collected.
In order for your picture to show up next to your comment, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service. You can find the privacy policy for Gravatar here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
Media
As far as I know, you can’t upload or download anything from my blog.
Contact forms
HAYC uses the plugin Contact Form 7. Here is their privacy policy. It collects the following information: Your Name, email, subject, and message. I need your name, so I can say hi to you when you contact me. I need your email address so I can actually reply back to you. I need to know the subject so I can get a clear idea of what is being asked. And I need the message so I can know exactly what it is you need. I’m the only one who can see this information (I’m Angela Johnson the owner and creator of Healthy As You Can).
The data would be stored on my Hostgator email account. Here is their privacy policy. I don’t let anyone else access any of my email accounts, including this one. I also have internet security and malware security on my laptop to protect against hackers. I will delete your data any time you want me to.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These help you so that you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content like Youtube videos, images, etc. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. I have no way of knowing for sure whether or not this is going to happen or not. I hope you don’t mind.
Analytics
This blog uses Google Analytics…at least it tries to. I’m not sure I uploaded the code correctly, so I don’t really know if it tracks you or not. We will just assume that it does. Here is their privacy policy
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, you can ask us to send you a copy of the personal data we have on you. You can also ask us to erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
