How To Journal Lists to Help You Glow Up and Be Beautiful Inside and Out
If you’re anything like me then you’re on a glow up journey too. I love personal development and trying to grow as a woman with each passing year.
However, for the rest of this year, I plan to kick it up a notch.
With the help of my glow-up and self-care journal (more on that later), I’ve been taking notes and documenting my inner and outer glow-up journey instead of just winging it like I normally do.
As you journey through life, you will realize that embracing your inner and outer beauty is key to glowing up.
Glowing up is not just about making changes to your outward appearance (although that’s a really fun and exciting part of the journey).
It is also about becoming a better version of yourself on the inside. And journaling provides the perfect platform to achieve holistic growth.
Why?
Because journaling helps facilitate personal growth and self-improvement as I’ve talked about so many times.
In this way, the journaling process can help enhance your inner and outer beauty.
In this post, we will explore various journal lists, tailored to help you glow up and become beautiful both inside and outside…even more than you already are!
The Power of Journaling for Personal Transformation
There is a myth that journaling is all about writing, but that’s far from the truth. Although it involves writing, it is a holistic and transformative experience that elevates your self-awareness, self-love, gratitude, clarity, and focus.
When you adopt journaling into your daily routine, make it an essential part of who you are. It helps you build an aura of inner peace in addition to outer radiance, projecting your true beauty.
But what kinds of things should you write in your journal so that you can transform both on the inside and the outside?
That’s what we are going to talk about next…I have 5 types of lists to share with you that will enhance your inner and outer beauty!
5 Types of Journal Lists for a Holistic Glow-Up…
1) Self-Reflection Lists
Let me start by saying there is no growth without self-reflection. Self-reflection is a key component for growth, it allows you to step back, pause and dig deep into your experiences, and gain deeper insight into your life.
And if you’re a Christian woman, the importance of self-reflection cannot be over-emphasized. It gives you the chance to examine your past experiences and have a quiet time with God.
You might feel like it’s difficult to have a journal list based on self-reflection. But that isn’t the case, because I, of course, have a list of self-reflection prompts for you that you can read right here!
2) Gratitude Lists
It’s so easy to count our expenses, our misfortunes, our bad experiences, and our trauma.
But how transformational would it be if instead we counted our blessings and showed gratitude for them? I know it’s been helpful for me and so many other people as well.
For many of us, all we need is an avenue to express our gratitude which in turn helps us glow on the inside.
With your gratitude list, you can express your appreciation through writing and express yourself to the fullest which helps you glow more than you can imagine.
You can start with thank you notes, what made you happy today, what relationships you are grateful for, and you can be grateful for your health. And as always I have some gratitude journaling prompts for you that you can add to a notebook or an app:

3) Beauty & Self-Care Lists
It is no secret that self-care and beauty routines are key to experiencing outer beauty. Self-care helps to nurture and maintain our confidence and keeps the mind and body healthy.
With the right self-care routine you can improve your physical appearance, from having clearer and more moisturized skin, and shiny hair, to stress management and improved mental health. There is no limit to what you can achieve.
Some self-care activity beauty prompts you can leverage for your journaling include, having a self-care routine, healthy diet log, exercise log, meditation, and hydration.
All these work hand in hand to help you glow and be beautiful both inside and outside. Lately, I’ve been giving my fitness planner a real workout.
I’ve been using it to keep track of my walking and pilates sessions. I’ve used it to hold photos of different healthy meal ideas I find online.
Whenever I watch a YouTube video that mentions products that help with stretch marks or dark marks, I write those products down in the self-care and beauty section of my journal so I can decide which ones will make into my Amazon cart later.
I have both a digital self-care journal and a printable self-care journal in my shop. Me? I personally, gravitate towards the digital journal since it’s on my phone and I can access it at any time.
But I wanted to give ya’ll two options because I know everyone has different tastes.
I have pictures of both the printable and digital glow-up journals below!

4) Goal-Setting Lists
Setting goals is a key aspect of your glow-up. It offers a sense of direction, purpose, and accomplishment.
Goal setting allows you to have clarity of mind and remain focused. It helps improve your prioritization skills and sharpen your thinking. It helps you track progress, which leads to sustainable growth.
If you’re struggling to come up with some goals to set for your 6 month glow up, here are some examples:
Career goals (where do I want to be in the next 3 to 5 years?)
Fitness goals (what type of workout routine should I develop, how often do I exercise per week?)
Relationship goals (how do I improve/maintain a healthy relationship with God, my family, and friends?)
5) Affirmation Lists
Affirmations are extraordinary tools for building self-esteem which in turn boost confidence and improve your overall glow, inside and outside.
Positive affirmations help eradicate negative thought patterns and cement positive beliefs.
Affirmations bring about a shift in mindset, with empowering statements taking the space of every negative self-talk. It also boosts confidence by reducing stress and anxiety that might have been resident via negative thought patterns.
Some affirmation prompts include:
self-worth and confidence (I trust in myself and the abilities God has given me, I am worthy of love and respect, I have what it takes to overcome challenges with ease),
achievement and success (I attract positive opportunities to my life, every day, I am a step closer to achieving my dreams)
resilience (I am strong and brave, challenges only bring out the best in me) and
body positivity (I love my body, I radiate grace and confidence, gratitude for a healthy body).
And as always I want to share even more positive affirmations with you:
How to Start Your Glow-Up Journaling Journey
If journaling is outside of your comfort zone, don’t worry. Journaling is a habit we develop over time not necessarily something we are born loving to do.
To embark on a journaling journey, you must be intentional, that’s the first step. Be sure you want to delve into journaling.
Then you need clarity. Be clear about what you want to journal, it can be a daily log (a summary of how your day went), or what you are grateful for each day it could be anything, just be clear about it.
My suggestion is to have a special place in your journal for each area of your life you want to improve.
Adequately plan for your journaling. Have a set time, be sure to pick a time that is comfortable with you, so you can always journal at that time.
It also helps build consistency. It can be after dinner, before breakfast, or at a set time when you know you will be available.
There are many tools and resources available that will help you have a successful journaling journey. Two are fairly obvious; your journal and your pen or pencil.
You can also create a digital journal using a journaling app, like Notion, Trello, Evernote, or any app that works for you.
Or if you want a glow-up journal that’s already been created for you then you can take a look at the self-care and fitness planner in my shop and see if it’s right for you!
That said, you can use mind mapping, prompts and templates, and gratitude journals amongst many other tools and resources you can leverage to get the best out of your journaling journey.
