How To Make Money & Be Successful According To 31 Legendary People (Quotes Post)

There is so much wisdom in the Bible about money and it’s definitely something that I will continue to talk about in the future.

But you can find inspiration and knowledge from others as well when it comes to making money and being successful.

In fact, the advice that these legendary people give about making money is often counterintuitive to the way many people think you become wealthy.

There is a refrain inherit in these quotes about money which I find quite refreshing. Many of them purport the values of hard work, never giving up, being courageous, and being wise.

Let’s take a look at what these people have to say.Continue reading

3 Genius Moves Smart Women Make Before They Get Their Next Paycheck To Stay Ahead

Does this sound familiar?

“Once again it’s the end of the month and I’m broke.

I don’t have any idea where my money went. I planned to save whatever money was left over at the end of the month but there isn’t any left over.

Maybe next month there will be.”

Ugh, how does this keep happening? I mean you are watching every single dollar that you spend, right?

Well, if you’re anything like me, you probably weren’t. I used to do this all the time. I’d look at my bank statements and ask questions like:

When did I buy that?
And why did I buy that?
Is it too late to take it back?
Because I’m pretty sure I don’t need it.

And that’s the trouble with flying by the seat of your pants when it comes to your money.

When you don’t have a plan for your money you better believe that the grocery store, the mall, and Amazon have a plan for your money.

Trust me, girl, they got you especially when you don’t. Let me explain why at the end of the month you have no money left over to save for yourself.Continue reading

The 9 Simple Steps Of Christian Financial Stewardship (Which Step Are You On?)

woman with credit card in wallet

Christian Financial Stewardships

I’ve been studying the Proverbs 31 woman a lot lately and based on what I’ve read, becoming financially free would be one of her life goals. (you know because I’m sure she thought about life goals in those exact terms ).

As I mentioned in this post, P31 had an entrepreneurial spirit and engaged in godly financial stewardship.

She was buying property, making money from the property and then reinvesting that money by planting a vineyard.

Then she sewed sashes and sold them to the merchants.

She also gave money to the needy which is a huge but sometimes overlooked component of financial stewardship.

She definitely doesn’t seem like she lacked what she needed for her family, servants, and herself. Continue reading

How To Stay Out Of Debt

Want to know some debt-free living tips? I have a few tips in this post that will help! Once you learn how debt sneaks up on you, you’ll be able to conquer the debt monster forever

I have a confession to make…

I have more debt than I’ve let on.

You see, this is how it happens because debt is so insidious.

It started with a For King and Country concert. My sister and mom wanted to go and so did I. My mom put the tickets to the concert on her credit and I said the infamous words…

“Thanks, I’ll pay you back”

Well about 6 or 7 I’ll pay you backs later and my mother kindly added up what I owed her and she said: “You owe me like $1100”.

Yikes!

So much for being debt free!

I mean that’s not a ton of debt but it’s nothing to sneeze at.

Those “I’ll pay you backs” really add up. They are so sneaky the way they just accumulate like that.

And I hate I mean loathe any form of debt so I’ve got to come up with a plan to pay her back (I think I owe my sister too! Boo hoo!)

And here I am thinking I’m debt-free. But I’m not and any debt is a dark thunderous cloud over my head stalking me at every turn.

No, I’m not being dramatic… ok maybe a little but it’s gotta go. And trust me it will go.

So we are definitely going to get into how I got out of debt but first let’s talk about financial freedom.Continue reading

5 Secrets To Improving Your Credit Score So You Can Always Get Approved

There's no way around it (sorry Dave Ramsey)....

In order to move toward financial freedom, most of us need and or want a high credit score.

Dave calls a good credit score the "I love debt score" and says that we shouldn't to use credit cards at all.

While I agree with him to a certain extent (I talk more about it in this article), not having a good credit score can be crippling financially when it comes to buying a house or a car because the interest rates are so much higher.

And let's be real, as much as I love the idea of never using credit for anything, even a car or a house, realistically, most of us aren't really going to live that way.

If you are someone who doesn't adhere to the idea of using credit for every little thing, then I commend you. I'm right there with you.

But if you've are someone who has been living off of credit cards (been there done that) and ruining your credit but now realize the error of your ways and you want to cut the plastic usage to a reasonable and less frequent amount, then stick around because I want to just briefly discuss an important aspect of improving your credit score.

You see half the battle is knowing how credit reporting agencies calculate your credit scores in the first place.

7 Cringe-Worthy Habits That Keep Christians From Living Debt Free

Living Debt Free As Christians

Credits cards.

Student loans.

Mortgages.

Some of us are in could be drowning in debt and guess what?

We might still decide to finance that vacation we’re going on in July.

That’s because as a society we have this philosophy that credit is free money or this “get it now pay for it later” mindset.

If we want to live debt-free as Christians, we cannot continue this way.

We are called to be good stewards of the money God has entrusted to us.

For so long, I wasn’t a good steward of His money.

I did some silly things with money that got me in major debt and I now regret but these silly things were also good learning experiences.

I’ve learned that sometimes knowing what you shouldn’t do isn’t a strong enough catalyst to get us to change.

Sometimes, we don’t even realize which financial habits keep is enslaved.

Looking at debt from this angle might help open our eyes.
