Bible Truths Every Christian Should Know
Besides knowing that the Bible is the word of God, the nerd in me likes knowing all kinds of facts about the Bible.
Of course, this post could be a million words long and it still never touch the surface of all the knowledge the Bible imparts.
So I just wanted to share a few facts about the Bible that to me reinforce the fact that God inspired it.
No other book could be written the way it has and it not be God’s word.
So exciting, right!
And all of these facts work well together too… well I’ll explain what I mean.
5 Amazing Bible Truths Every Christian Should Know To Have Rock Solid Faith
The Bible was written by 40 or so authors. Kind of similar to how a college textbook might have multiple authors.
However, usually, when writing a college textbook, the authors probably know each other.
They probably met together and collaborated to discuss what should and should not go into the textbook.
But knowing these next few facts would make a similar process difficult for the biblical writers.
2. The Bible was written in 3 different languages.
Not only was the Bible written by different authors but it was written in different languages.
It was written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.
Speaking different languages would definitely throw a wrench into the idea of the biblical authors meeting with each other and deciding what to write.
But not only that but…
3. The Bible was written on different continents.
The Bible was written on three continents.
Most was written in what is modern-day Israel (Asia).
But some passages of Jeremiah were written in Egypt (Africa) and several New Testament epistles were written from cities in Europe.
And if that wasn’t amazing enough…
So not only was the Bible written by different authors, on different continents, and in different languages but also in different time periods.
The Bible was written over a span of 1500 years. Job is believed to have been written 3,400 years ago and Revelation is believed to have been written in 90 AD.
And it was written over a span of 1500 years.
5) These men all had different occupations.
Some were kings, scribes, prophets, fishermen, and a doctor. They definitely are a motley crew who wouldn’t have interacted with each other.
So these authors didn’t necessarily know each other (some did of course but many did not).
They didn’t always speak the same language, didn’t always live on the same continent let alone the same country.
Nor live in the same time period yet they all contributed to a book that has one central theme and message: Jesus.
Jesus is mentioned or alluded to in every book of the Bible.
There’s no way that many different men, with different languages, backgrounds, occupations, time periods and lifestyles could all stay on message without someone (God) guiding them through the whole creative process but has one consistent theme.
It gives you chills to think about the awesome and unique way in which this book of books written. Click To Tweet
Here’s another fact: 1.5 billion people don’t have access to the Bible in their language!
