So as you know this past year & a half has been a time of upheaval and uncertainty.
It seems like the world is getting more chaotic and violent.
Headlines screaming of violent crimes surges, evictions, disease, and death could keep you swimming in fear and anxiety…if you let it.
It would be easy to let fear grip up and never let go but it doesn’t and shouldn’t be that way.
I know easier said than done, I know. I know it’s hard to stay sane when there seems to be one crisis after another after another.
That’s why in today’s post, I want to share with you some ways that you can learn to trust God in these tough times and stay connected to God & your Christian family during times of crisis even when you can’t be together.
And please know that these ideas and tips are things that we can do no matter what’s going on in our lives personally or in the world at large.
Sometimes we need a reminder of ways that we can draw closer with each other and to the Lord.
I hope this post will show you some ways to strengthen your trust and faith in God!
“Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:”
Proverbs 3:9 KJV
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;”
Proverbs 3:9 NIV
“Honour the LORD by giving him your money and the first part of all your crops.”
Proverbs 3:9 CEVUK
Did ya’ll set any financial goals this year?
Maybe you want to get out of debt. Maybe you want to earn more money so you can save for an emergency fund or start investing.
These are all worthy goals to set for the new year or any time). We are called to be good stewards with the money that God has given us.Continue reading
Are you stuck at home and wondering is there anything life-changing I could be doing with my time? Well I have 19 amazing ideas for you to try while you’re stuck at home on lockdown or whenever you have long stretches of time at home.
I couldn’t pen down one emotion to describe this period of quarantine if I tried.
Bittersweet comes to mind but that’s such an anemic word that I dare not use it for it doesn’t even come close to grasping the depth of this situation that is 2020.
2020 basically just took a wrecking ball to all of our lives. Whether it’s a lost job or a lost loved one or the fear of experiencing either, no one has gone through this period unscathed.
I have had pockets of anxiety. Continue reading
This is a conversation that I’ve had many times and you probably have too. Why do so many of our kids that grew up in church leave Christianity when they become adults?
It is said that many teenagers leave the church when they become adults. This is no doubt shocking and sad.
Well, the bible does foretell us of a great falling away in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 (I’m not sure if that’s what’s going on or not) but if it is, it is alarming to see it happening right before our very eyes.
It makes you wonder (if this is prophecy) if there is nothing we can do about it. Is it just inevitable that so many people will quote-unquote “fall away”?Continue reading
Do you struggle to have meaningful prayer time with God every day?
I promise I won’t judge because I certainly do. I intend to pray and I sit down and several things might happen:
1) My mind wanders
2) I fall asleep
3) insert your own mishap here.
I really hate that this happens so often because there’s so much to pray for and even though I don’t understand it completely (more on that in another post) I know prayer changes things in a mighty way.
And I need some things changed not just for me but for others around me. So prayer must happen.
But how can I solve these issues I’ve been having?
Well, I’ve been seeing prayer journals pop up everywhere on Pinterest and I believe that it will be the answer to my prayers (on bad & cheesy joke I know).
So in today’s post, I’m going to talk about what you need to start a prayer journal and the benefits I believe you will get from using one.Continue reading
Besides knowing that the Bible is the word of God, the nerd in me likes knowing all kinds of facts about the Bible.
Of course, this post could be a million words long and it still never touch the surface of all the knowledge the Bible imparts.
So I just wanted to share a few facts about the Bible that to me reinforce the fact that God inspired it.
No other book could be written the way it has and it not be God’s word.
So exciting, right!Continue reading
I am the queen of going down rabbit holes.
Have you ever started typing a phrase into Google or Pinterest and had a phrase pop up and you just had to know what that phrase was about?
That’s what happened to me on Pinterest.
I thought “Wait, what? That’s not a thing. Surely, no Christians practice witchcraft.”
Turns out I was wrong.
Christian witchcraft is a thing.
Except it’s not really a thing and yet some people sincerely believe that it is.
I truly wanted to cry while I was writing this post.
I had no idea that Christian witches existed although I should have known because the devil never rests and is always looking to deceive as many people as possible.
I’m so heartbroken that women are falling into this trap thinking that they are walking with God when they are not. Maybe I should word this post in a nicer way but I can’t sugarcoat this.
As I strive to become more like a Proverbs 31 woman, it’s imperative to “speak with wisdom and faithful instruction”.
I will not mince words.Continue reading
Even though she isn’t exactly real, the Proverbs 31 woman is legendary.
Christian women all over the world read this passage in Proverbs and try and pattern their lives off of this amazing lady.
And it’s no wonder.
She basically did it all and didn’t seem to break a sweat.
Now, I’m not going to try and persuade you that you need to follow in her footsteps because it kinda makes me tired just thinking about everything she did.
But I did think it would be awesome to create some Proverbs 31 Woman journaling prompts that help us think about our lives more deeply.
You see, the Proverbs 31 Woman lived a healthy life…and I don’t just mean physically.
I mean she was financially, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy, as well.
In today’s post, I will be talking about how she is healthy in these 5 areas and then give you some journaling prompts related to them.
I hope that these journaling prompts will inspire you to think about these different areas of your life in a meaningful way and give you a new perspective. Continue reading
An estimated 40 million Americans are suffering from anxiety.
And while there should be no Christians counted in that number I know for sure that there are (I am one of them).
Why shouldn’t any Christians that struggle with anxiety?
Because Jesus told us about a million different times not to be anxious ( give or take a few times).
Yet so often we still can’t overcome the constant worry and doubt that plagues so many of us.
So I thought it would be good to have a devotional and remind ourselves of 5 major things Jesus said about overcoming anxiety. Continue reading
You’ve finally done the impossible.
Your to-do list in hand, (either digitally or on paper) you have a firm grasp of what tasks need to be done and by George, you’re determined to do them.
And guess what?
By some miracle, you checked off every single item on your list.
Brimming with pride as you make that last checkmark with a flourish, you feel more accomplished than you have in a while.
That’s because normally, your to-do list turns into a to-do later (or never) list. So you feeling good and you should.
I know from experience that a lot of the time the stuff on my to-do list, worthy though they may seem at the time, they often aren’t the most important things that need to get done.Continue reading
